I'm planning a trip to Nustar Resort and Casino next month and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sheer size of everything. I've read mixed reviews about the dining options, so I was hoping some seasoned travelers could weigh in. Specifically, is the buffet really worth it, or should I stick to the a la carte restaurants? Also, for non-gambling activities, are the pool areas generally crowded, or are there quieter spots to relax? Any advice on booking packages or navigating the resort would be greatly appreciated before I commit to my itinerary.

For dining, I found the buffet okay for a casual breakfast, but if you want a memorable dinner, definitely book a la carte. The Japanese place was fantastic, and the service there made the experience feel much more curated than the main buffet hall.

The upper levels of the pool area are much quieter. Skip the main lagoon pool if you want to chill.

Regarding packages, I recommend booking directly through the resort website rather than third-party sites. It gives you better flexibility if your plans change, and sometimes they offer better room upgrades when you call them directly.

I went last year and the dining was a mixed bag. The buffet is huge, yes, but the quality can be inconsistent. I recommend focusing on one or two specific restaurants based on cuisine type. For Italian, try 'Trattoria' - their pasta is divine. For something upscale, check out 'The Ember Room'. Make reservations weeks in advance, especially for dinner, because they fill up fast. Also, remember that the resort is massive, so wear comfortable shoes and plan your walking routes to avoid getting lost.

The pool is busy, yes. But the small garden courtyard near the spa is perfect for quiet reading.

I disagree about the a la carte being mandatory. The buffet is great for grazing throughout the day, and if you're budget-conscious, it saves a lot of money. Just be careful about the quality control on the seafood station; it was disappointing for me.

Navigating Nustar is like navigating a small city. Don't try to see everything in one day. Dedicate half a day just to exploring the non-casino retail areas and the grounds. Use the resort map and consider taking a tram if they offer one for long distances. Also, keep your phone charged, as the signal can be spotty in the deeper wings of the resort. The best tip is to pace yourself and enjoy the atmosphere rather than ticking off attractions.

Nah, the buffet is fine for a quick bite.

Yes, the tram system they use to move between the main towers is a lifesaver. It really helps with the sheer size of the place and makes getting from the hotel to the casino floor much less exhausting.

If you are looking for non-gambling relaxation, skip the main pool deck during peak hours. Instead, check out the outdoor walking paths that wind through the resort's tropical gardens. There are several benches tucked away in these areas that offer beautiful views and genuine peace. You can also book a spa package which usually includes access to a quieter, separate relaxation lounge area. It's a great way to unwind without feeling like you're in a crowd.

Take the resort shuttle.

I totally agree with the dining advice. I went last year and the buffet was overwhelming and felt like a race to eat everything. I found that booking two specific restaurants for different meals (one casual, one fancy) gave us a much better overall experience and felt more manageable.
