Does Betsson's sponsorship make Melodifestivalen feel too much like a betting platform?

I was watching Melfest last night and I can't help but notice how heavily the betting aspect is promoted. It feels like every break, every graphic, and even the commentators seem to be guiding us toward placing a bet. I love the show, but I worry that the constant integration of betting ads and the focus on odds is detracting from the actual music and the artistic competition. Do others feel like the sponsorship has crossed a line? Or is this just part of modern TV funding that we have to accept?

It's noticeable. I feel like the focus is always on who will win, not the quality of the song itself. It's a shame.

I think it's unavoidable. These massive sponsorships fund huge productions like this. We just have to accept it as part of modern entertainment.

Totally agree. It's distracting. I spent more time looking at the odds graphic than paying attention to the choreography.

Why do you think so? I actually enjoyed the betting segments. It adds a fun, interactive layer that makes the viewing experience more engaging.

The commentary is the worst part. They treat it like a horse race, not a music competition. It really undermines the artistry.

Replying to the above: I understand the point about the commentary, but the sheer volume of ads is the problem. It's not just the talking, it's the constant visual reminders to bet.

It's a cynical cash grab. They use the passion for music to sell gambling. It's disappointing to see a beloved cultural event reduced to a betting pool.

Short answer: Yes. It feels excessive. They should dial it back significantly.

I think the organizers should negotiate stricter guidelines with the sponsors. The sponsorship money is necessary, but the integration needs to be much more subtle. Maybe just a logo placement, not a whole segment dedicated to odds.

I disagree. If it wasn't for the money, Melfest wouldn't be able to put on such a huge show. The betting aspect is just how they monetize it now. It's capitalism, unfortunately.

It's a cycle. The sponsors pay for the spectacle, and the spectacle must accommodate the sponsors. It's a tricky balance that seems to be tipping too far toward gambling.

I just wish they would focus on the music. Let the songs speak for themselves, without the constant reminder that we should be placing wagers right now.
