I've been playing Kaboo for a while now, and the rules seem to change every time a new patch drops. Specifically, I'm confused about the interaction between the 'Blast' ability and the 'Shield' mechanic in the third round. The official wiki seems outdated, and I'm worried I'm misinterpreting the current guidelines. Could someone who has played recently clarify if the cooldown timer resets if you take damage while the shield is active? Any detailed explanation or link to the most current rule set would be greatly appreciated before I try to compete in the next tournament.

I think the cooldown does reset. It's a known exploit, but it's currently allowed in competitive play.

Hey, I was in the last tournament too. My understanding is that taking damage while shielded does NOT reset the cooldown. You have to wait out the full timer regardless of incoming damage. Check the patch notes from the official developer stream, they usually clarify these interactions.

The wiki is terrible. I found a Reddit thread that had a detailed breakdown. It says the interaction is purely based on the Shield's internal timer, not external damage events. Hope that helps!

Wait, did anyone confirm if the 'Blast' ability damage counts against the cooldown timer? Or is it only the Shield's damage that matters?

Regarding the cooldown reset: I played last week, and it definitely did not reset. It felt like the system was designed to prevent that kind of loop. Maybe you are misinterpreting the mechanics, or perhaps the tournament organizers are using an older rule set.

Short answer: No. It does not reset. The cooldown is locked by the Shield's activation, and damage simply ticks down the timer without restarting it. You need to wait for the full duration.

I'm confused about the cooldown reset. Does the damage need to be above a certain threshold to trigger the reset, or is any amount of damage sufficient?

Honestly, I just stick to the basic rules. Focus on positioning and managing your Shield uptime. Don't get bogged down in the micro-mechanics of cooldown resets; it's too risky.

I found a video walkthrough from a pro player that covers this exact scenario. It shows the cooldown running uninterrupted even when they were hit by a high-damage Blast. I highly recommend watching it for visual confirmation.

It's possible the rule changed again. Check the official Discord channel announcements. They are usually the fastest source for immediate rule clarifications before major events.

To follow up on the threshold question: I think it needs to be substantial damage, maybe 15% or more of your max HP, otherwise, the system ignores it. This is just my theory, though.
