I'm planning a trip to the area next month and I'm really interested in checking out Scioto Downs. I've heard mixed reviews about the crowds and the overall vibe. I'm trying to figure out if there are specific days or times that are less busy but still offer a good selection of games. For example, is going mid-week afternoon better than a Saturday night? Also, if anyone has experience with the food options there, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I just want to make sure I plan my visit efficiently.

Definitely go on a Tuesday afternoon. The crowd is manageable, and the slot machines aren't as packed as the weekends.

I found that late weekday mornings (around 10 AM - 12 PM) are surprisingly quiet. You get the feel of the place without the massive crowds, and the games are running smoothly. It's a good balance.

Honestly, I think the food is overrated. I just hit the buffet area for a quick bite before playing. It's fine, but don't expect gourmet dining. Stick to the quick snacks.

I disagree about the weekday timing. If you want the full casino experience, you have to go Saturday night. That's when the energy is highest, even if the crowds are huge. The entertainment value is worth it.

Mid-week afternoons are perfect. I went last month and spent a solid four hours without feeling overwhelmed. The dealers were attentive, and the game selection was solid.

If you're worried about crowds, try aiming for a Sunday early afternoon. People are usually trickling in, but it hasn't reached the peak Saturday rush. It's a nice, relaxed vibe.

Reply to the previous post: I actually found the food selection surprisingly good if you go for the themed specials. They had some great local BBQ items that were much better than the standard casino fare. Definitely check the daily specials board!

Saturday night is fine, but be prepared for lines everywhere. If you're focused purely on maximizing playtime and minimizing waiting, avoid the peak hours entirely. Maybe aim for the opening hour.

I went last month and the food was hit or miss. The wings were decent, but the main entrees were quite expensive for what they were. I'd bring a snack from outside if I could.

I second the mid-week advice. I went on a Thursday and it was perfect. I was able to focus on the tables without feeling like I was constantly jostling for space. It was efficient and fun.

Just go when you can. The casino is always there, and the games are always running. Don't stress too much about the 'perfect' time. Have fun!

To add to the food discussion: I recommend looking for the bar area for quick drinks and simple appetizers. It's less chaotic than trying to navigate the main restaurant, and the prices are more reasonable.
