I just flew out on American Airlines last week, and honestly, the experience was pretty rough. The gate change announcement was confusing, and the boarding process felt disorganized. Plus, the in-flight entertainment system was glitchy and kept freezing up. Has anyone else noticed a decline in service quality lately? I was hoping for a smoother journey, especially since I have a connection to another city. Any advice on how to navigate their system or what to expect going forward would be greatly appreciated.

I had a terrible time last month too. The gate announcements were completely contradictory, and it wasted so much time trying to find the correct terminal.

Just book American Airlines through a third-party aggregator instead of directly on their site. Sometimes the booking flow is smoother.

The IFE system is a known issue. Download all your movies and podcasts beforehand. It's the only way to guarantee uninterrupted entertainment, especially if the Wi-Fi is spotty.

Totally agree about the disorganization. For connections, always aim for flights that land at the same time they depart. It minimizes the stress of navigating the airport.

Reply to previous post: I found that arriving at the airport at least 3 hours early helps immensely. It gives you buffer time if there are delays or gate changes, which seems to be the norm these days.

Keep a physical copy of your itinerary and confirmation numbers. Relying solely on mobile apps that might glitch during a busy airport period is risky.

I think the problem is systemic. They are clearly understaffed in key operational areas, which leads to the confusing announcements and the rushed feeling during boarding. It's not just you.

Reply to previous post: I disagree slightly. While the gate changes are confusing, the staff were actually very helpful when I approached the gate agent directly. Sometimes you just need to ask for help rather than waiting for the announcement.

Always pack a portable battery charger for your phone. When the IFE freezes, your phone is your lifeline for information and entertainment.

For connections, use the airport's free Wi-Fi (if available) to check real-time flight status updates. Don't trust the gate screens alone.

I'm going to try flying a different airline next time. The stress of anticipating problems is worse than the actual delay itself. Hopefully, this helps.

Reply to previous post: I agree with the 3-hour early arrival suggestion. It's non-negotiable when dealing with a carrier that seems to be constantly in flux. Patience is key, but so is preparation.
