I've been accumulating a lot of free spins recently from various promotions, but I'm not sure how to best utilize them. Should I save them all up for a major tournament, or is it better to use them immediately on smaller cash games to build up a bankroll? I've heard some people say that using them on specific types of poker (like MTTs) is much more profitable than just playing standard cash games. Has anyone had success using a large batch of spins to grind up a specific leaderboard ranking? Any advice on strategy or which game format is currently offering the best return would be greatly appreciated.

Always use them on cash games. Consistency is key for bankroll building.

I think saving them for a major MTT is the best strategy. The variance is higher, but the potential payout is worth the risk. You need a solid bankroll to survive the early stages, and spins help you get there without risking real money.

Grinding leaderboards is a fun way to use them, but don't get tunnel vision. Focus on playing games you actually enjoy, even if the immediate return isn't visible.

Short and sweet: Use them on low stakes NLHE cash games. Maximize playtime, minimize risk.

Replying to the bankroll idea: While cash games are safe, you need to consider the rake structure. Sometimes the rake eats up the value of the free spins too quickly, making MTTs a better use of the initial capital boost.

The best return usually comes from smaller, specialized tournaments that have low entry fees but high participation. You get a lot of hands played for minimal investment.

Don't worry about the 'best' format. Focus on the format where you are already skilled. If you are a cash game grinder, stick to cash games. Don't force yourself into tournament play just because it sounds 'more profitable.'

I had a huge batch of spins last month. I used them all on a specific ladder tournament series. It allowed me to play 50+ hands in a row, which was perfect for testing out a new opening strategy I was developing. It felt like a free training session.

Why do you think saving them for a major tournament is better? I find that the sheer volume of hands in a large cash game session is more valuable for general skill improvement than the high variance of a single tournament.

Be careful about the 'best return' claims. Sometimes the promotions are designed to make you feel like you need to play more. Use them strategically, not compulsively.

Leaderboards are great for motivation, but if you are aiming for profit, you need to calculate your expected value (EV). Focus on games with positive EV, regardless of the leaderboard.

I agree with the cash game approach. Just make sure you are playing against competent opponents. Free spins are only as good as the table you sit at.

Look into Sit & Go (SNG) tournaments. They offer a good blend of cash game feel and tournament structure, making them ideal for using up large quantities of spins without the massive commitment of a full MTT.

The key is diversification. Don't put all your spins into one type of game. Use some for cash, some for SNGs, and maybe save a few for a major MTT just to keep your options open. A balanced approach wins.

Just play poker. Free spins are just free hands. Don't overthink the strategy. Good luck!
