My partner and I are planning a trip for six people, and we're struggling with the best booking strategy. We are trying to find a hotel that offers both space and good amenities, but the online booking sites are overwhelming. Should we look at Airbnbs, or is it better to stick to traditional hotels that offer connecting rooms? We are worried about getting stuck with a hotel that is too far from the main tourist areas. Any advice on negotiating group rates or finding a hotel that really caters to large families would be greatly appreciated. We want a comfortable stay without breaking the bank.

For six people, I strongly recommend looking at dedicated vacation rentals or serviced apartments. They usually offer kitchen facilities, which saves a fortune on dining out, and the living space is often much better than connecting hotel rooms.

Airbnbs are great, but check the cancellation policy carefully. Sometimes the hosts have very strict rules about group size or amenities.

Hotels are safer for amenities and immediate support, but connecting rooms can be a nightmare to coordinate. Always call the hotel directly, don't rely solely on the booking site.

Group rates are possible, but you have to ask. Don't just assume they exist. Mention that you are a group of six and ask for a 'group block rate' immediately.

Have you considered looking at boutique hotels? They often have a more personalized touch and are usually located in prime, central areas, which solves your location worry.

I think you should prioritize location over the type of accommodation. If the hotel is too far, even the best Airbnb won't save the trip. Use Google Maps to check walking distance to key spots first.

I agree with the serviced apartment idea. They feel more like a home and less like a sterile hotel room, which is crucial for a comfortable stay.

Connecting rooms are fine if the hotel is known for excellent service and has a great breakfast/amenity package. Otherwise, you might end up paying for space you don't need.

If you are traveling during peak season, booking as early as possible is key. Prices spike dramatically, and the best group accommodations get snapped up fast. Start researching now!

To reply to the point about negotiation: Always ask if they offer a discount if you book three or four rooms simultaneously. Sometimes they are more flexible than you think.

I found a great deal using a local travel agent instead of the big online platforms. They had direct contacts and could secure a better rate and better location for us.

Regarding Airbnbs, always check the neighborhood reviews, not just the listing reviews. You want to know if the area is safe and walkable, especially in the evenings.

A hybrid approach works best. Book a serviced apartment for the main stay, but if a specific activity requires a hotel amenity (like a pool or gym), check if there are nearby options you can use.
