I've been playing Coral Gaming for about three weeks now, and I'm really enjoying the build-up aspect, but I keep hitting a wall with resource scarcity. Specifically, I'm struggling to balance the harvesting of bio-luminescent algae versus the gathering of deep-sea minerals. Does anyone have advice on optimizing my initial resource collection? I feel like I'm either over-investing in one area and neglecting the other, which slows down my expansion significantly. Any tips on early-game efficiency would be greatly appreciated, especially regarding which upgrade path is most cost-effective right now.

Focus on the minerals first. Algae is good for late-game tech, but minerals power the initial infrastructure build-out. It's a bottleneck right now.

I found a great ratio early on. Spend 60% of your initial effort on algae harvesting, but dedicate 40% to setting up mineral extraction points near the geothermal vents. The vents boost efficiency significantly.

Just stick to the basic upgrade path. Don't jump into the advanced filtration systems until you have a stable mineral income. Over-investing early is a trap.

Totally agree with the mineral focus. My biggest mistake was trying to balance them equally. I spent my first few hours chasing algae and nearly starved for construction materials.

Have you checked the map topography? Sometimes the best resource isn't what you're looking for. Look for confluence points where both resources are naturally abundant. That's where the real efficiency boost is.

The geothermal vents are key. They provide a passive boost to both. Make sure your initial setup is within range of at least two different vent sources, even if it means sacrificing a small amount of immediate resource gain.

I think the best strategy is to build a dedicated transport line just for the minerals. Keep the algae harvesting localized to a smaller, more manageable area until your population growth stabilizes. It prevents resource dilution.

Reply to the 'geothermal vents' post: Yes, the vents are crucial. But also remember that the bio-luminescent algae can be used as a temporary power source for basic tools, which helps bridge the gap when mineral income is low. Use it strategically!

Try prioritizing the upgrade that increases your harvesting radius first. It makes all subsequent resource gathering much easier and less time-consuming. Efficiency over raw numbers.

I found that focusing solely on the mineral extraction upgrade path for the first 50 cycles was the most cost-effective. It allowed me to build my initial power grid without constant shortages. It was brutal, but effective.
