My friends and I are planning a big group outing next month and we're trying to organize a fun activity. We've heard about playing some kind of outdoor game or scavenger hunt near Mt. Pleasant, but we're not sure where to start. Does anyone have recommendations for specific parks or areas that are good for large groups? We are looking for something that isn't too strenuous but still engaging for a mix of ages. Any tips on local game organizers or if there are any established 'game on' spots would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

You should check out the area around the riverwalk. It's flat, plenty of space, and there are a few little businesses nearby if you need a break. It's perfect for a scavenger hunt format.

Short and sweet: Central Park is always good for this. Bring frisbees and just let the group wander and play whatever games you remember. Super easy setup.

I had a fantastic time last fall doing a 'geocaching' style hunt near the historic district. It's not a formal game, but you use coordinates and solve riddles based on local landmarks. You might need to hire a local guide or organizer, though. I found a small company called 'Local Lore Adventures' that specializes in this kind of thing, and they are highly recommended for large groups.

Have you considered a field day setup? Just rent some cones and set up simple relay races in the main green area. Low cost, high energy.

I think the riverwalk is best. It's really accessible for all ages and you can pace the difficulty of the game. Maybe incorporate photo challenges based on local architecture.

Local Lore Adventures is great! We used them last year. They even tailored the difficulty level for us, which was perfect since we had kids and elderly relatives joining.

My friend suggested the riverwalk too. It's a solid choice. Just make sure you check the park's website for any specific event closures or permits needed for a large group.

If you want something truly structured, look into the community center's recreation department. Sometimes they run organized 'field day' events that are open to the public for a fee. It's the most reliable option for large groups.

Totally agree with the geocaching idea. It's much more engaging than just running around. You get the physical activity but also the intellectual challenge. Definitely worth the planning effort!

Check out the botanical gardens. They have designated walking paths and some unique areas that make for great photo challenges or 'find the X' type of game. It's beautiful and less crowded than the main park areas.

I'd recommend the botanical gardens. They are beautiful and offer a mix of challenge and relaxation. You can make a scavenger hunt around the different plant types, which is educational and fun for all ages.
