My friends and I are planning a trip to New Jersey next month and we are really hoping to find a place that has a great atmosphere, not just the gambling. We are looking for a true 'party' vibe, maybe something with live music or good bars before we even hit the tables. Has anyone been to multiple casinos and can recommend which one has the best crowd and the most fun activities besides just slot machines? We are open to Atlantic City, but any tips on local spots that feel more modern and less touristy would be amazing. Thanks in advance for the insider advice!

You should definitely check out the Boardwalk area in Atlantic City, but skip the main strip. Head toward the quieter restaurants and bars near the river for a better vibe.

If you want modern and less touristy, skip AC entirely. Look into the nightlife in Hoboken or Downtown Jersey City. They have amazing bars and live music that isn't casino-dependent.

Tropicana is solid for the atmosphere. They have great entertainment and the music venues are usually packed. It's a classic party spot.

I think the biggest mistake people make is assuming AC is the only option. Try Newark or even some of the upscale lounges in the nearby cities. Much better crowd.

Totally agree about the non-casino vibe. Have you looked into the nightlife in Cherry Hill? It's surprisingly vibrant and has some great local pubs.

The best night out is actually just wandering through the local bars and then deciding if you want to gamble. Don't make the casino the main event. Try the bars in the Passaic River area.

Long story, but I went to Hard Rock Casino and spent most of my time at the bar area. They had a band playing jazz and the crowd was mixed-age and really fun. It felt less like a tourist trap than others.

I heard about the Hoboken spots too. Are there any specific bars you recommend for live music? I'm really hoping for a good band night.

Definitely check out the lounges at Caesars. They tend to have higher quality acts and the bars are more sophisticated than the main casino floor. It's a step up from the typical tourist experience.

The best spots are usually the ones that aren't casinos. Hoboken has some incredible breweries and live music venues that are perfect for a pre-game party.

I disagree that you have to go to a big casino. Just take the train into Newark and explore the local bars. You'll find a much more authentic, local feel.

Don't forget about the smaller, more boutique spots. Sometimes the best fun is found in a cozy speakeasy bar rather than a massive resort.

If you are going to AC, try to book a table at a nice restaurant first. It sets the tone for the night and gets you in the right headspace for fun.

For a true party vibe, I'd recommend looking at the entertainment schedules for the major resorts. They often have themed nights with live DJs and groups. Check the websites in advance!
