I've been thinking about joining Ilani Poker Room for some cash games, but I'm not sure if the current meta is favorable for beginners. Has anyone been playing there in the last month or two? I'm specifically interested in the tournament structure and if the rake is considered fair compared to other local online rooms. Also, does anyone have advice on which game type (e.g., Pot-Limit vs. No-Limit) is best for someone starting out with limited bankroll? Any insights on the community feel or the software stability would be greatly appreciated.

I played there last month. The NL structure is fine, but be warned, the player pool can be super aggressive. Don't expect a gentle learning curve.

For a beginner, stick to Pot-Limit. It allows you to build up your stack more slowly and gives you time to read opponents without the immediate pressure of No-Limit all-ins. Also, the software is pretty stable, I haven't had any major crashes.

The rake is definitely higher than the major international online rooms. It's standard for local physical rooms, but if you're comparing purely online, it might feel steep.

I found the community to be mixed. Some tables are very friendly, but others are full of whales who play ruthlessly. Always play with a small, disposable bankroll when you're testing the waters.

Totally agree about the Pot-Limit advice. I started there and it was much less overwhelming than jumping straight into No-Limit. Focus on solid fundamentals first.

The tournament structure is okay, but they really favor the early aggressive players. If you are new, maybe start with smaller, low-stakes cash games first to get comfortable with the rhythm.

The software stability is great. I never experienced any lag or connection drops during my last few sessions. It's a solid platform overall.

Be careful about the meta. A few regulars tend to run hyper-aggressive lines, which can be confusing if you haven't seen that style before. Just observe for a few sessions before committing chips.

I'd recommend checking out their smaller, non-major tournaments first. They are less intense and give you a feel for the room without risking too much capital. Good luck!

I think the community feel is highly dependent on the specific table you sit at. Don't judge the whole room by one bad table. Just take it slow and learn the local rhythm. It's a learning process, remember that!
