Hi everyone, I'm planning a trip to the area and I've heard good things about the Victoria Casino in Elgin, but I'm completely new to the place. Has anyone been recently and could give me some honest feedback? I'm not looking to gamble all day, but I'd love to know what the atmosphere is like and if there are any specific areas or games I should check out. Also, are there any good nearby restaurants or places to hang out before or after a visit? Any tips on parking or getting there would be hugely appreciated.

I went last month. It's pretty decent, but don't expect Vegas level glamour. It's more of a local spot for a night out.

The atmosphere is surprisingly lively, especially on weekends. I recommend checking out the high-limit poker room if you're into that, but the general vibe is fun without being overwhelming. Parking is easy in the main lot, but try to get there early.

Short and sweet: Go for the buffet. Skip the slot machines if you want a good time.

I agree with the buffet suggestion. Also, if you're looking for a nice dinner before, try 'The Copper Kettle' down the street. It's cozy and has great local fare. For parking, the municipal lot across the street is usually cheaper.

I'm thinking of going for a couple of hours. Is it worth it just for the ambiance, or do you need to gamble to enjoy it?

It's definitely worth it for the ambiance alone. Even just walking through the casino floor and having a drink at one of the bars gives you a good night out feeling. Don't feel pressured to spend money.

For restaurants, check out 'Elgin Eats' - they have a great patio. It's a short drive from the casino. Also, if you're staying overnight, the little boutique hotel near the square is lovely.

The slot machines are fine, but the table games are where the real action is. Try the blackjack tables; they usually have a good mix of players and dealers. Just be mindful of the house edge, of course.

I heard the parking can be tricky after a big event. Maybe look into the paid valet service they offer? It's a little pricey, but it saves the hassle.

If you're not gambling, just head to the lounge area. They often have live music or background entertainment that's really relaxing. It's perfect for just hanging out and having a drink.

I found the nearby brewery, 'Hophead Aleworks,' to be the best pre-game spot. Great selection of beers and it's super casual. Perfect way to start the evening.

The valet service is a good idea. And yes, the brewery is perfect. It makes the whole trip feel more like a planned outing rather than just a gambling trip. Thanks for the tips!
